thursday 25th september Intro to mgazines

In this lesson, we talked about what magazines we read and our teacher began to group them. we then realised that magazines also had there own genres, and we discussed these genres as a class, and came across the word Sub-genre and how magazines can be spilt up into different genres for example:
This is a men and style magazine
This is a women's weekly. After discussing the different types of sub-genre and who reads them, each table was given a sub-genre to discuss and was told to do audience profiling on it. My group was given Women's weekly, we came up with the following theories of who reads this magazine

-Around 40-65
-Part-time working / Pensioners
-Spend time watching TV, Cooking, Shopping

After this we did an introductory to music magazines, and then as a group we each analysed the front cover for the magazine 'Q'. We noticed things such as the main heading, sub-headings, sell lines, strap lines. Afterward as a class, we did an audience profile on the magazine and then individually we did a story ' a day in life' of a typical reader who reads 'Q' magazine.

Lastly we were given our practical brief and then we began to plan our front cover and our photo shoot for the following Monday.
